But it seems only a matter of time before contract hire becomes a universally accepted practice, as clients and contractors realise the benefits of transferring the risk - and the cost of providing their own trained supervisor. Both hire customer and crane hirer seem to benefit. The customer gets to offload one of the major elements of risk - the lift supervision - while the crane hirer gets to make a decent cut on the margin.
